PhD University of Derby September 2002 The title of my thesis is "A Theology of Survival: the faith narratives of women who have experienced domestic violence".

The thesis uses an interdisciplinary and narrative approach to assess the impact of religion on violence towards women. The thesis also examines stereotypical representations of women and women’s own responses to both religion and stereotyping of women.

Teaching and research interests

· As a former mature student I have an ongoing interest in lifelong learning and equality of opportunity. I am also interested in representations of the body. Gender, violence and health and social inclusion. A further interest here has been how domestic violence has affected children. My engagement with the work of feminist theologians whilst researching my thesis, has resulted in an ongoing interest in any research where religion and/or gender/inclusion are factors.
