    Making With The Moleskin

I know that plenty of writers love their moleskins and use them for scheduling their time and keeping track of jobs. Like Monice I now use my moleskin for just about everything in my life. I've got the 18month diary that gives you a week to view on one page while the opposite page is for notes etc. It's great for keeping track of everything and I can soon spot the days when I have not been up to par or been doing things other than writing.

I keep a list of jobs in on the day they were booked and a completion date, this helps me to schedule work better. As I am getting back into the swing of things I'm finding that working in blocks of time is the most useful thing to me and makes me more productive. I also note down what I have earned each day and also what I have banked.

The moleskin has lots of blank pages at the back where you can capture notes and ideas, and even make sketches if you're so inclined. I like the pocket at the back of the moleskin because it's somewhere to put any cards or notes that I pick up when I am out. I also keep a pocket calculater in that pocket and like the band that goes across the moleskin, making sure that everything stays inside.

If you are having trouble scheduling things for your business and wondering where the time goes then a moleskin notebook or diary is a great way of getting yourself organised.

Do you use a moleskin. and if so how do you make it work?

    It's Been a While

It's been a while since I posted on here; or on any of my other blogs for that matter. Between family problems and a dose of viral pneumonia life has been hectic to say the least and my own writing has gone by the board. I don't know about you, but if I leave something for too long I find it very hard to pick up again. I don't know whether that is laziness or fear, whatever it is I'm back again and I intend to post regularly those things that I hope may interest and inform you.

When I started blogging and freelancing I wouldn't have got where I am if it haden't been for people like Sharon and Suz, so it is only right that I also should help people along the way. Life has been a bit chaotic since I lost my eldest son almost two years ago; his death has been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with, and am still dealing with. I realise that I have not been at my best in all too many areas but I hope that taking a respite and trying to work through the grief and the pain will have helped me back on the road to me again, we shall see. Thanks for dropping by and reading this.  Sue

Let Them Know You Write For Cash - It Works!

I read a lot of blogs with great information about freelance writing and blogging and have lost count of the number of them who advise readers to promote themselves and market their services. By nature I procrastinate on things that scare me and cold calling (or emailing) has always felt hard.

    Writing For Cash

If, like me you write for cash, then unless you tell someone about it they won't know. At the beginning of the week I decided it was time to take my fears in hand and do somehting about marketing my services. I searched for seo firms because I have written quite a lot of optimized articles and content and these people often have need of writers. Eventually I picked three who looked like potential clients and send off emails detailing my experience and links to some work.

You could have knocked me down with the cliched feather when I got three replies back. One was a no no, which was a pity, the rates were good but they only dealt with US writers. The other two replies were from UK companies the rates aren't good, but they're not bad either, with one offering almost two cents a word and the other closer to two and a half - £3.50 for 400 words the first and £6 for 500 words. Anyway, I have to write sample briefs for each, and I'll get paid, and if its ok then work is ongoing for both of them. So if you haven't already taken the marketing plunge why not give it a go? Let me know if you get some work as I am sure you will.
