How I Got My Blogging Start

When Sharon suggested on Plurk that we might like to sign up for a group writing project on how I got my blogging start

it sounded like a fun thing to do. So here is my contribution.

    WritingUp

I got my blogging start purely by accident. One day in June 2006 I was searching for online writing work and I came across a site called Writingup. It looked pretty good to me as I read some of the blogs on there and so I signed up for an account and started blogging.

I met a whole group of people on that site that I like to think of as my writing friends, including Sharon, Dana and Gracepub. I learned a lot from these three and from some of the other writers on that site. It was through this that I signed up for other blogs and got my start in freelance writing.

Sadly, Writingup as it was, no longer exists for a variety of reasons, however, I personally will always have very fond memories of the place that I got my blogging start - I will always be grateful for and to the people that I met on there, for well over a year that site was a great place to be.

Thanks for sharing, Sue. I have fond memories of the early days of WU, too :)

Hi Sue! I remember Dana and GracePub too! I wrote under the moniker "Prisms" back then. Here's my entry into Sharon's writing project. It's very similar to yours.

    Hi Sue!

Wow! WritingUp must have been a powerful experience; I've heard a lot about it lately. Good times and bad times both -- like so many life experiences, it seems. Glad you continued to write!
