    What's Up with Writing Forums

This last week or so I have spent some time looking at writing forums. It is possible to pick up work this way but you do have to watch out as there are always those people who want something for nothing - I am not talking about scams here, just very low rates of pay. One person wanted ten 300word articles at $1.50 an article, it does make me wonder if these people have ever written anything themselves, or considered the amount of time it can take to research and write a decent article. Needless to say there were people who were willing to put their services at the disposal of the writer of this ad - the problem is that if you undervalue your work too much then who is going to do it for you?

There are some genuine offers of work on these forums but you have to look hard to find them. If you publish your rates there and you are asking for more than $1 a word then it is also likely that you will get replies telling you your rates are too high. Stick to yiour guns and tell them that if they want quality content that has been well researched then they should be prepared to pay a decent rate for it.

I find the same thing with design work. I recently seen a couple posts with people claiming "$2.00 logos" or "$10.00 web pages" Now, my normal rates for logos START at $100.00 and my website layout are $375.00 Needless to say that a LOT of these forums don't offer very much work my way. Like you, I do find the few who are willing to work with my prices because they understand quality, but there really isn't a good spot for people like us to find work on forums. :)

Keep up the good writing (I found your site through Digitalpoint by the way).
