    Writing Articles in Your Niche

If you want to make a name for yourself in a certain field then it is well worth writing articles in your niche. Many writers develop specialisms in certain areas (niches) by starting out with sites such Review Stream. Gracepub is a published author who owns the Inspired Author site where I and a number of other people contribute blog postings and articles in our specialist areas. What we get in return is a share of Google Adsense money - but money is not the point with this site it is about promoting your area and getting your work known. This is an essential aspect of the freelance life; if you want to make it then you have to be prepared to get out there and promote your work.

Most freelancers who write for the web can quickly become quite knowledgeable in a number of fields; although they may still retain a preference for articles on a particular subject - their niche area. Once you have acquired sufficient knowledge on a subject then that might another area of specialism. The point is that writers first get repeat work because they have developed sound research skills and the ability to deliver on time - once that is established then it is safe to venture far out of your niche.

Good points, Sue. I've come to specialise in all sorts of areas that were new to me when I started freelancing.
